This month, the solo project Stand Up from Jesse McFaddin debuted on Pandora. Jesse McFaddin is the founder and frontman for the Japanese rock band, RIZE. He released Stand Up in November 2012 and saw the album as a way for him to explore his creativity through a mashup of genres including reggae, EDM, Hip-Hop and rock. Pandora is the largest Internet radio station in the US and provides a music discovery platform for American consumers to listen to music from new and emerging artists from around the world. This isn’t Jesse’s first foray onto the radio station, as three of his band’s albums are currently in rotation on the platform.

Jesse McFaddin, is currently making waves in the Americas. Earlier this month he released a new web series titled Stand Up Crossover Talks where he interviews notable members of society who are making a difference in the world. In February, his Access Violation video appeared on MTV Iggy and Windows Media Entertainment Guide. He was also recently interviewed by Urban Ink, a US print and web publication that covers updates in the tattoo community with an emphasis on people of color. Meanwhile in South America, several radio stations have consistently added Jesse’s music to their playlist since his album was released last year.

Jesse McFaddin is the lead singer of the group RIZE, a three-piece rock band that is a fixture in the Japanese rock scene. He views his solo album as an opportunity to explore his creativity, spotlight his philanthropic projects and connect directly with fans outside of Japan. Jesse McFaddin is very engaged in the charitable community, acting as the face and brand ambassador for No Water No Chemical, El Sistema Japan, and Beers for Books. 2013 will bring Jesse further into the Americas with live performances planned at numerous festivals as well as more collaborations with artists from North and South America.

On Tuesday, February 12th, Jesse McFaddin’s first video “Access Violation” from his solo album Stand Up! debuted on MTV Iggy, the world music discovery branch of the influential Viacom Media Networks family. The video is highlighted on their homepage, complete with a description. Access Violation is a track that blends a number of musical styles including rock, hip hop and electro. Sung in both English and Japanese, the track stays true to Jesse’s message of social activism and awareness. Shot entirely in black and white, the video intersperses artistic direction with classic video reels from the Cold War era to underscore Jesse’s message. MTV Iggy said it best by describing Access Violation as:

If we’re truly in our last days, Japan’s Jesse McFaddin (of nu metal trio Rize) would probably provide the penultimate swan song. “Access Violation” contains lots of pounding, hip-hoppy drums, electro guitar strums and black and white end-of-the-world-appropriate footage with poetic Japanese lyrics weaved in.
