Ever since I posted the Geico “Foghorn Leghorn” ad on my blog, my site stats have gone through the roof. I don’t know if it’s the general popularity of the commercial or the choice in tags I added but my site stats have literally tripled since I posted the ad last week! Talk about unintentional SEO marketing! ^_^

Geico does it again, I have yet to see a Geico commercial that I don’t love. So, in less than a week, I’m posting yet another Geico commercial that I’m absolutely loving. This time, our announcer asks us “Is the pen mightier than the sword?”. And then we’re treated to a scene of a masked ninja doing a few fancy sword moves, followed by a sensei (I’m assuming) signing for a package and then opening it to reveal a super amped up taser that he uses on the sword swinging ninja. LOVE IT!
Just saw this commercial and I had to share! So, we’re all aware (or should be by now) of the Geico commercial series where the man posts a rhetorical question that somehow relates to how easy it is to secure a Geico insurance policy. This time, the man asks us “Would Foghorn Leghorn make a really bad book narrator?”. I’m really ♥’ing this commercial for so many reasons. First of all, of all the Warner Bros cartoon characters, Foghorn Leghorn was one of my faves…that and Pepe LePew and Michigan J Frog. Second, it also has the secondary chicken hawk character, Henery Hawk with his always present wooden club.
We’re treated to a hilarious view of Foghorn Leghorn attempting to read Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities” (and yes…if you’re familiar with how Foghorn Leghorn normally talked in the WB cartoons, you know that he would make an absolutely HORRID narrator!) much to the irritation of the booth engineer and Henery Hawk. Finally, Henery takes matters into his own hands and (we suppose since it’s not seen in the footage) bashes Foghorn to get him out of his tangent. This is the perfect mix of nostalgia and humor. For those of us who either grew up when these commercials were in their first run (Boomers) or grew up watching them as “classics” (Gen’s X & Y*), this once again associates insurance (a usually not so positive conversation topic) with something like cartoons which for most of us should elicit positive feelings. If you haven’t seen this commercial yet, please check it out!
*Note: If you don’t recognize any of the above characters and actually had to click the links to figure out who they were, then you’re clearly a late 90s baby or later! So, then this post is for all of us old enough to remember when ABC’s morning cartoons used to sing “After these messages we’ll be righhhht back!” (click the link to view all the cute claymation clips that played from ABC) during the commercial breaks and then followed with a clip from School House Rock! ^_^
A quick post before bed. I’ve seen this commercial a couple of times but always forget to post it. Geico continues their hilarious line of commercials where the announcer asks a rhetorical question followed by a scene that plays out to the exact question that he proposes. This time, he poses the question “do dogs chase cats” and instead of seeing a series of dogs chasing cats on foot, we’re treated to a hilarious 1970s themed car chase of dogs driving in a high speed pursuit after cats in cars as well.
