BASM Does SEO Right for JRock Clients with 1st page & 1st Entry Google Search Results!

Yes, we’re patting ourselves on the back – why? Because we do organically what other marketing firms do through (what we like to call) less than ethical means – TRUE ORGANIC Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

SEO is the practice of using content to increase the page rank on search engines organically. This means that officially, you shouldn’t be paying companies to rank you higher or paying people to write about your products and/or brands. But just through natural conversations, articles, etc – you should see your page rank improve. SEO is important because from a marketing perspective, it’s rare that consumers search Google past the 3rd page. In fact, you’re lucky if they go past page 1. So, if you aren’t ranked high enough, then people can’t find you. Now, BASM doesn’t normally offer SEO for all of our clients unless we’re truly handling their marketing campaigns – rather than just doing straight distribution deals (which is the bulk of our business). But for a few specific clients we do offer SEO.

As background, when BASM first signed fade and RIZE as clients, it took digging to page three to find them on Google. Note this is for the Google US site not other countries. This was a challenge for us because when we submit artists for distribution, the first thing that platforms do is – you guessed it – “Google them”. If someone has to dig to find an artist, it can be a bit more difficult to get them placed.

Fast forward to today & both RIZE and fade are dominating page 1 when you search “RIZE band” or “fade band” (the most common search terms we’re seeing through the BASM blog). This was through combined efforts of reaching out to national and international blogs to write stories (not for pay), Twitter posts (which fans loyally retweeted! Thx!), Facebook posts and of course the BASM blog. What’s more – we’re doubly pleased because it’s not just RIZE & fade’s official websites that are showing – but content from other sites that references them. So, for us – it totally plays towards relevance and helps to further solidify why both bands (which are awesome by the way & yes we’re biased) deserve to take their place in the US spotlight! Check it out for yourself!

Have You Googled Lately? Google Pays Tribute to Louis Daguerre

Seriously, I really ♥ Google Doodles! And today is no exception!

In the midst of my furious press release drafting, I thought it’d be great to slip in a post just for fun! Today is the 224th birthday of Louis Daguerre, the inventor of the daguerreotype, which was a form of photography that modernized the way photographers processed film. Prior to Louis Daguerre’s revolutionary method, it took hours to process a photograph! After his invention in 1836, it took just 20-30 minutes. Make sure you check out Google if you get the chance!

Halloween Themed Google Doodle!!!

Have you googled anything lately? If not, I suggest you do at some point today, October 31st.

Halloween themed and animated Google Doodle

Halloween themed and animated Google Doodle

Google has replaced their static logo with a video that shows (presumably hired pumpkin carvers and a variety of interestingly dressed extras) carving 6 large-ish pumpkins into a Halloween themed Google logo – complete with a final shot of the pumpkins lit up at night.

I love it! Halloween is one of the few holidays that even adults can join in on the fun without being chastised too much for their choices. And in addition to that, it’s also my birthday! So, I’m looking forward to some Halloween hijinks!

Have You Googled Today – New Google Doodle for “Gumby” Creator

Yes…it’s that favored kind of post – the Google Doodle post!

Google celebrates Art Clokey's 90th birthday - the creator of Gumby!

Google celebrates Art Clokey's 90th birthday - the creator of Gumby!

Today is Art Clokey’s 90th birthday. Who’s Art Clokey? Well he’s the creator of that lovable claymation 70′s show, Gumby! I’ll admit, I wasn’t the biggest Gumby fan, but I’m LOVING this Google Doodle tribute to Art Clokey. We have a static G but then blobs of clay which, when clicked on, morph into the core Gumby characters (of course I only remember Gumby, Pokey & the Blockheads). But this Google Doodle also features Gumby’s sister (who I believe was named Sally) and the yellow dragon looking guy who’s name I can’t remember.

At any rate…mosey on down to Google.com and check it out!

Google & Martha Graham

Have you googled lately? No, I suggest you do in the next hour and a half! Today Google’s replaced their static Google Doodle with an active one which shows Martha Graham doing a few signature interpretive/modern dance moves that motion out the spelling of the iconic search and “everything-for-your-life” company name, Google.

For those who don’t know, Martha Graham is considered to be one of the leaders of American modern dance. I highly highly HIGHLY suggest that you check out this doodle before midnight tonight!

Oh Google! You’ve Done It Again!

Have you Googled lately? I suggest you do! Today Google is celebrating what would have been the 76th birthday of famed children’s book author Roger Hargreaves.

He was the author and illustrator of the famed Mr. Men and Little Miss series of books. I don’t know how popular the books are with the current generation, but I LOVED these books growing up. In our house we definitely had Mr. Nosey, Mr. Tickles & Miss Chatterbox.

I’m in love with today’s series of Google doodles since there are 16 in total to commemorate Roger Hargreaves’ birthday and the popularity of these amazingly simple yet completely attention catching children’s book characters. The Mr. Men & Little Miss series has spawned a children’s show as well as licensing deals for children’s and adult t-shirts. I even have a few of the tees: Little Miss Shy, Little Miss Giggles and Little Miss Sunshine.

I’ve included a few of my favorite Mr. Men & Little Miss Google Doodles here. But, if you don’t have time to refresh your Google search page to view all 16, I highly suggest you check out the slideshow and article discussing today’s Google theme from PC magazine which puts them all in one convenient place for you!

Searching for Sprint’s “Veatrice” Ad Get’s BASM Blog Pg 1 Google Results!

Another positive form of organic SEO! About two weeks ago I put up a post about Sprint’s promotion that urges people to call a number or text and email Ms. Veatrice who is turning 100 this month (well by now she’s probably already turned 100!). Anyway, that commercial turned out to be quite popular and really pushed the BASM blog daily stats up over the top! Well, today I did a Google search for “Sprint Veatrice” and noticed that my post Commercials that Confuse Me – Sprint’s ‘Veatrice Birthday’ is ranked number 7 out of 10 on page 1 of the search results. This just goes to show, if you know what you’re doing, you can get strong SEO results organically – and for free!

Google Goes Old School to Celebrate Charlie Chaplin’s 122nd Birthday!

Have you Googled anything lately? If not I highly suggest that you do! For those who are familiar with Google, from time to time, they change their homepage “Google” image to celebrate a special event that took place on a specific date. Today, I learned that it’s the 122nd birthday of Charlie Chaplin, the famous and lovable silent picture comedian who was best known for his “madcap” pictures and “gamine” portrayals.

Clicking on the video image that pops up reveals a cute short silent film done in typical Charlie Chaplin style. I highly suggest you check it out if you haven’t done so yet! Other specialty Google images that I loved:

Hangul Day is the celebration of the formal development of the Hangul (Hangeul) alphabet in Korea in 1446 (there’s debate on when the alphabet was actually created depending on if you’re in N. or S. Korea…so do your own research – this date is based on Wikipedia!).

Google PacMan

I loved this one…I played it a couple of times. It came out on May 22nd, 2010 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pac Man game.

Google celebrates Dr. Seuss

I ♥ Dr. Seuss quite a bit so this one was a special treat. I absolutely do not care that I’m 28 and well past the age of his target audience…but nothing beats “Oh The Places You’ll Go” or “The Star Bellied Sneetches”. This one was created on March 2nd, 2009 to celebrate what would have been Theodor Geisel’s (Dr. Seuss’ real name) 105th birthday!

Talk About Popularity! Searching Geico’s Foghorn Leghorn Ad Produces BASM Blog on Google’s Pg1!

A quick post…

Ever since I posted the Geico “Foghorn Leghorn” ad on my blog, my site stats have gone through the roof. I don’t know if it’s the general popularity of the commercial or the choice in tags I added but my site stats have literally tripled since I posted the ad last week! Talk about unintentional SEO marketing! ^_^
