Jesse McFaddin Featured on Melo TV News for MAGIC Feb ’12 Event Coverage

Clearly today has been a busy day of posting for the BASM blog – but well worth it!

We bring you yet another post about our client Jesse McFaddin – rocker, producer, designer, social activist & all around cool dude. Today we just received an event recap for MAGIC February 2012 from the awesome ear-to-the-ground crew at Melo TV News. Melo TV is an interview/event coverage platform that looks for what’s new and hot at some of the top events in the country. Last week they were at MAGIC and stopped by the s.l.a.t.e. show floor to check out what’s hot in the urban/street wear category for Fall 2012.

Melo TV dropped by the Slip&Co booth to check out the ONLY Japanese street line that presented at s.l.a.t.e! While they were there, Jesse decided to bless them with an impromptu freestyle rap in English & Japanese – which only goes to show how talented our guy is! Fast forward to 1:35 to check out Jesse’s flow! ^_^

Slip&Co x MAGIC Feb ’12 Event Recap!

Finally, we’re releasing the event recap for MAGIC February 2012!

This is just a quick overview of pictures, videos and links from press, interviews and events at MAGIC. Last week, we had the pleasure of helping to launch the popular Japanese men’s street wear line, Slip&Co in the US. What’s more after months of working on marketing campaigns for Jesse, his line Slip&Co and his band RIZE, we finally got to meet him. And for the record, he’s one of the coolest, down to earth people we’ve met in a long time – with a real love for milk! For the full experience with access to videos of Jesse’s interviews and more, click the link to the full piece on Issuu.com.

For those unfamiliar, Slip&Co is designed by iconic Japanese rock artist Jesse McFaddin – the frontman for RIZE, a legendary Japanese alternative rock band. The line is envisioned to be a collection that could appeal to young and mature rockers & urban fashion lovers alike. With an array of graphic tees, carefully crafted button downs & jackets and premium Japanese denim, the line was well received at MAGIC. The Slip&Co booth was always full of press and buyers from the start of the show to the last day including Open Fly Magazine, Swagg Magazine, Urban Fashion Weekly, 411 Magazine and more.

Additionally, collaborating lines stopped by to visit with Jesse, namely Blackfly frames & sunglasses which has partnered with Jesse McFaddin & Slip&Co to create a collection of McFaddin “F’in Rock Star” frames.

For those who are curious, s.l.a.t.e. is the street wear division of MAGIC which is quickly becoming a focal point for the three day industry only trade show. MAGIC is an event where buyers from some of the world’s top department stores and boutiques preview and write orders for designs from established and up-and-coming lines that are showcasing men’s, women’s and accessories looks for the next season. This February, lines unveiled their Fall 2012 collections.

What Buyers Can Expect From SLIP&CO at MAGIC!

SLIP&CO February s.l.a.t.e. at MAGIC Preview

Alright, so we’re roughly two weeks out from MAGIC, when some of the retail industry’s best collections & new lines will descend upon Las Vegas. And, I just received the final line up of items that we’ll be presenting from SLIP&CO at s.l.a.t.e. at MAGIC. If you’ll be at MAGIC, come stop by the s.la.t.e. show floor and pop into booth #42120 to say “hi” and take a peak at the line! The line features vibrant prints & colors, easy fitting relaxed tees and a somewhat “retro cool” look – all combined into one easy collection. I must say, it’s the hotness & I love the artwork in the look book.

And yes, that’s KenKen working the SLIP&CO FT Paisley Shirt & SLIP&CO Skull Ring.

This February, lines will be unveiling their Fall 2012 collections.

As I’ve mentioned many many times, although SLIP&CO is not a new line (it’s been out since 2006 in Japan), it is new to the US market. So, buyers and press can expect to see a carefully curated collection which highlights the line’s ability to easily transition from work to play and everything in between. Additionally, we’ll also be presenting their collaborative designs with iconic hat company, New Era Caps. SLIP&CO is the brainchild of rocker, Jesse McFaddin who is also the front man for the wildly popular Japanese rock band RIZE. Jesse will also be in attendance at MAGIC, marking his first press related appearance in the US for the 2012 season.

For immediate release

December 11, 2011

JRock Icon Jesse McFaddin to begin production on a fully crowd sourced album

JRock icon Jesse McFaddin to begin production on a fully crowd sourced album

To commemorate the eleventh year since his band RIZE officially launched in Japan, popular J-Rock icon Jesse McFaddin is now releasing details for an ambitious plan to drop an album next spring where the production has been entirely crowd sourced. Throughout his career, Jesse has a history of encouraging creativity specifically within the youth demographic. Jesse’s latest solo album is entitled STAND UP! Fund and isn’t in reference to a charity but rather his desire to encourage action and creativity amongst the youth. For this album, Jesse is targeting the North American market and wants to support emerging production teams across the continent to showcase their talents in North America and Asia.

STAND UP! Fund will be an eleven-track album with a unique approach to foster creativity among emerging production companies in North America. Starting this month, eleven demo tracks will be made available on www.triberize.net/standup. Production teams can download these samples and use it as a basis for inspiration to remix the original version with full creative license. Producers can change lyrics, melodies and more. Once finished, they can then contact standup@triberize.net for instructions to submit their finished works. Jesse will then pick one user submitted version for each of the eleven tracks and begin working directly with each production team to create a polished final edit.

Production teams selected to work directly with Jesse will receive full production credits. Additionally, Jesse will also release STAND UP! Fund in Japan, which will help promote and expose the production teams to the popular Japanese music scene, which is influential specifically within the Asian market.

Jesse McFaddin is the lead singer and founder of the extremely popular Japanese rock group, RIZE . RIZEis a hard rock/metal band that has been around for eleven years with major accomplishments such as performing at Live 8 in 2005 and Live Earth in 2007, having their song “Zero” licensed by Coke Zero Japan/Asia, various songs used for PS2 games such as “BioHazard”, and have appeared live with NIN, Run DMC, Jay Z & Oasis. They toured in the US in 2003 on an “All American” tour with The Kottonmouth Kings, performing at 38 shows across the country. Both the group, RIZE , and the lead singer, Jesse McFaddin , are major icons in the Japanese music and pop culture scenes, influencing music, entertainment and fashion by way of Jesse’s clothing line Slip&Co which will debut in the US in February 2012 at the influential MAGIC – s.l.a.t.e. convention.

Slip&Co Fall '11 look book featuring Jesse McFaddin on the cover

Jesse McFaddin, lead singer and founder of the popular J-Rock trio RIZE has long been viewed as a leader in music and fashion. Although mainly known for his musical stylings, Jesse created his own clothing line, Slip & Corporation (known in short as Slip&Co) in August of 2006 from his hometown of Togoshi, Japan. Slip&Co is a men’s streetwear collection with a focus on the skater lifestyle. The line is highlighted by graphic tees & shirts, graphic hoodies, premium denim and a mini collection of dress wear comprised of stylized pants and vests.

Slip&Co is wildly successful in Japan. Fueled by Jesse’s notoriety, the line was immediately accepted by on-trend boutique stores, specifically in the fashion forward metropolitan city Tokyo. The line has also created collaborative projects such as various limited edition caps designed for the iconic New Era brand. Additionally, celebrities in the Japanese entertainment scene have flocked to Jesse’s line, with top tier names like actor Ichihara Hayato amongst Slip&Co’s celebrity fans.

After years of success in Japan, Jesse’s focusing on the United States for not only Slip&Co but for his music career as well. Not only is Jesse McFaddin looking to the American entertainment scene for his next solo music project entitled “STAND UP! Fund”, but Slip&Co will officially debut at the February 2012 MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas, appearing in the popular and growing streetwear category s.l.a.t.e.

MAGIC is the premiere retail industry trade show in the United States, occurring biannually every February and August. Nearly $200 Million in orders is written daily and the show is considered one of the top trade shows for clothing lines world wide to exhibit. Attendees hail from over 80 countries and nearly 5000 brands will be in attendance to present previously known or new to market brands. s.l.a.t.e. is a newer division of the MAGIC trade show brand, focusing exclusively on streetwear and brings together a collection of emerging and established brands.

On the heels of our press release on 11.11.11 regarding Jesse McFaddin’s (front man of J-Rock band RIZE) official launch in the US through his GIMCRACK and STAND UP!
